Community Organizations and Activites

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization of practicing Catholic men inunion with the Holy See. They offer fellowship with those of the same faith, who recognize the same duty to God, family and neighbor and who will stand side by side in defense of those beliefs. They assist the disabled, the aged, the poor and the disadvantaged. They serve as the Honor Guard at various civic and religious functions.

Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary is for wives, widows, mothers, and daughters (aged eighteen or older) of Knights of Columbus members. This group meets the fourth Tuesday of the month. Members promote fellowship, support of the Knights of Columbus and charitable activities.

Cursillo is a short course in Christianity, which offers a method of living a balanced Christian life through piety, study, and action. Following the 3-day course, the Cursillo community offers both small and large support groups to help maintain this balance and spiritual journey.

Cornerstone Catholic Bible Study focuses on an in-depth study of the Scriptures through daily study, group discussion, lecture and commentary provided by a Catholic theologian. This group meets Thursdays from 9:15 –11:15 AM in the Holy Trinity Parish Center and is open to the entire city. Study begins mid-September and ends in mid-April for each year. Members must complete a visitors’ day which is held in September and April.

Contemplative Outreach provides opportunities for centering prayer (also know as silent prayer) on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Chapel.  Twenty minutes of prayer is followed by a 30-minute lesson/discussion.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study meets each Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. The Little Rock Scripture Study is being used. This study group is open to all members of the parish.

Society of St. Francis De Sales is a contemporary approach to spirituality based on the writings of St. Francis De Sales. It offers a way to find depth and meaning to your everyday life. This spiritual family of men and women meet monthly for Mass, prayer, lively programs, discussions and a yearly retreat.

The Secular Franciscan Order (Third Order Franciscan) follows the rules and imitates the life of St. Francis of Assisi. The order strives to live and bring to life the Gospels within our own lives and to help renew the Church from within through the Franciscan charism of charity in service to all. The Order is open to all Catholics who are at least 18 years old. The Order meets at 1:00 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month in the Holy Trinity Chapel.

The Kitchen helps to feed the poor and hungry of Springfield, as well as assist with housing, medical needs, and education. It is financed by private contributions. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.
