In Memory of Robert Stringham

Feature ImageRobert Stringham passed away at his residence on July 10, 2017 surrounded by family members.  He was born in 1920 in Millard, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Taylor Stringham and mother, Jessie Delilah; his loving wife of 63 years, Marian Mary and by three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Stringham was Captain of the 1938 Utah State champions in football. It was also in high school he developed a keen interest in flying.  At the beginning of his military career, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and while bombing in Tunisia was awarded the Purple Heart along and other citations.  He re-enlisted in the Air Force and was part of the only squadron that was equipped to carry nuclear weapons, flying the B-29 Super Fortress.  He retired in 1962 with the rank of Major.  For several years he and his wife operated a dairy farm in Clever, Missouri, where he made many friends.
Surviving him are three sons, Bob Stringham Jr. and wife Kitty, Springfield; S. Michael Stringham, Phoenix, Arizona; and Matthew Stringham, Springfield; along with 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home, with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
